Arrival is the exciting first book in series "The Phoenix Files".It is an engaging thriller that is set around a teenage boy called Luke. Luke moves to a strange new town called phoenix in the middle of nowhere after his parent's divorce. But Luke feels like something is not right. Phoenix seems too good to be true. There is no internet connection or any telephone calls to outside of phoenix (which is a bad thing for Luke as he can not call his Dad) and the T.V permanently says '150 satellite channels coming soon!' on every channel. Phoenix seems to be completely isolated from the outside world, despite appearing to be perfect at first glance. Phoenix is like a dream town, with all the facilities anyone could ever want. But Luke can see behind all of that and knows there are secrets to be discovered. I think that the characters are really well described and each have deep a personality. Luke also finds it hard to deal with one of his sceptic friends Peter, who like almost everyone in Phoenix sees nothing at all wrong with their home town. In fact, the only other person who suspects something is wrong is Jordan, Luke's other friend. As if all this suspicion wasn't enough, Luke finds out he has 100 days until the end of the world. Now Luke struggles in a race against time to try to save the world and discover the who is plotting to wipe out the human race. And the clock is ticking fast. Someone is leaving him clues. Along his journey, Luke will discover the biggest secret about Phoenix. But I won't spoil that for you. Overall this book is a fantastic start to a fantastic series that is so engaging that I just couldn't put it down.

The next book in the series is 'Contact' and is available in book stores. Chris Morphew is an Australian author.
