This book is about a girl named Jessamine Luxton who lives an ordinary life with her father in a cottage surrounded by gardens containing plants that can cure and poison. But this all changes when a business man dumps a boy named Weed who is about her age on their door step. Her father works with plants and calls him self an apothecary and takes some interest in the boy and lets him live with him and his daughter. But this boy is not any ordinary boy. He has a secret that will lead him to leaving the people he loves. Jessamine after befriending Weed, falls in love but when things were looking good she falls into a illness that neither her love or her father knows how to cure. Weed using his knowledge of plants and the connection he has with them tries to save Jessamine's life. But the poisons are tricky and to save her life he must leave her.
This book is a thrilling adventure. It has a great and mysterious plot that is created by the person you least expect. It makes you feel like you are really there and is a great book to read. I would recommend this book for good readers that are looking for something a bit different. The first time I read it I could not put it down. The book describes the scene, time and the appearance of the characters very well and the words the author has used are just magnificent. The author obviously has a great imagination and I would rank this book one of the best I have ever read. It is a great book for people who are into fantasy books and i would recommend this to anyone and everyone. The author was inspired to write this book by the current Duchess of Northumberland's public English Gardens.

I would rank this book a 4 out of 5. It's a good book and I think most people would like it.
